Faculty Development Program

The Faculty Development Stipend program is undergoing a review and evaluation.

Funding for direct stipends to individuals are not expected to be available this year as we hope to redirect the program resources to serve more faculty by offering web and audio seminars and information in other forms.

A little history might be helpful to explain where we are headed with a new program.

The faculty stipend program started in the Fall of 2004 and continued through the fall of 2008. In the five years of the program, only 99 persons have received stipends. We know there are many faculty (1,500+ currently on the AOE CoP) who could benefit from seminars, toolkits, a discussion forum and other services to help improve their teaching and learning community.

If you received a stipend in the past, we will be contacting you for further information on how the award helped HIM curriculum development, research into new teaching methods or the integration of new technologies or other areas as described below in the purpose statement.

We are looking for sponsors for the program and hope to create new interest in a revitalized program that addresses faculty development in new ways.

We will be surveying faculty in the 2nd quarter of the year.

If you would like to be involved in a Task Force and have some innovative ideas on how we can bring lasting training and development value to the HIM profession, please contact Bonnie Aguda at (312) 233-1175 or bonnie.aguda@ahimafoundation.org
