Matthew Schuller, MS, RHIA

Matthew Schuller has been active in health care quality improvement since 1986 beginning as a health information manager and currently at the BlueCross BlueShield Association (BCBSA) directing national patient safety and clinical quality improvement initiatives. Prior to joining BCBSA, he was Director of Quality and Safety Services for a 313-bed hospital in the western suburbs of Chicago. 

 

In a director role for the BCBSA Office of Clinical Affairs (OCA),  Matt is responsible for leading projects related to the hospital and physician quality measurement, systems improvement, patient safety incentive programs, and consumer engagement.  He also provides leadership to Blue Plan sponsored collaborative initiatives with national medical specialty boards in an effort to elevate the level of clinical performance and patient outcomes.

 

Matt received his master’s degree in Public Service Administration from the DePaul University, Chicago and has a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from Illinois State University.  He is an active member of AHIMA and is on the AHIMA Foundation Board of Directors and is formerly co-chair of the AHIMA Quality and Secondary data use Practice Council.

 

Today, the AHIMA Foundation strives to be the leading resource on managing health information for the healthcare industry and the public at large.
